About The Mechanisms
The Mechanisms is a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team on a mission to educate and inspire students in STEM fields. We do more than just build robots: We actively build a team of future leaders and innovators who want to make a difference. Our students learn valuable life skills such as self-confidence, communication, and leadership.
Established with the help of experienced mentors, The Mechanisms is a student-led organization comprising students from eighth through twelfth grade. We are the technology workforce of the future. Our mentors are leaders in engineering, business, and computing who volunteer over one thousand hours annually to provide guidance to educate and inspire our students. Together, we strive to design, build, and program the best robots in the world year after year.
About FIRST
FIRST stands for “For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.” FIRST is a global non-profit organization that designs accessible, innovative programs that motivate young people to pursue education and career opportunities in STEM while building self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills.
Dean Kamen, a prolific inventor, entrepreneur, and advocate for science and technology, founded FIRST in 1989. His passion and determination to help young people discover the excitement and rewards of science and technology are the cornerstones of FIRST. For over 30 years, Kamen has resolutely led the growth of FIRST to where it is now universally recognized as a leading, not-for-profit STEM engagement program for students worldwide.
